Abstract
Objectives: The study seeks to achieve the following objectives. First: Identifying specific models related to the phenomenon of alternating letters of meaning according to Imam Al-Fakhr Al-Razi. Second: Identifying the impact of the doctrinal meaning and the definitive jurisprudential rulings in controlling the homophone and directing this phenomenon in his interpretation. Third: Explaining Al-Razi’s position on this alternation and his motives in controlling the homophones in letters of meaning. Methods: The study is based on the descriptive analytical approach, as it traced the places in which the letters of meanings varied between different connotations according to the interpreters related to the doctrinal meanings or jurisprudential rulings. Then the effect of these meanings to exclude what may be accepted to occur in language or reason. Conclusions: The study concluded that Al-Razi gave doctrinal meanings and jurisprudential rulings in some places an effect that regulates the connotation of the letter of meaning, and even restricts it to one meaning and not others, despite the occurrence of that letter between different meanings according to the interpreters and with the integrity of these meanings in terms of language and reason.
