Abstract
This research aims to discuss economic and social human rights through the Islamic perspective and discuss the role of the waqf in enhancing human economic and social rights. The research adopted the descriptive analytical method in addition to the historical method in presenting the waqf development. The research findings revealed that the role of the waqf in enhancing economic and social human rights is as follows: the right to education as the waqf is one of the most important institutions that had an active role in the development of education such as building schools and chapels, the education waqf is a closeness to God Almighty and that it is from the ongoing charity. The health care right is a resemblance of the waqf of hospitals, clinics and the waqf on their operation and maintenance in addition to the waqf of medical devices, medicines, the medical colleges, and health institutes. The right to work is entailed in that Islam guarantees to all society members justice in getting honorable work and appropriate wages. The right to housing is by providing special homes for students, homes for widows, the sick, the disabled, the elderly and sometimes the unemployed persons. The human right to social welfare and social solidarity are from zakat and waqf funds.
