Abstract
Objectives: This research aims to study the implicit cultural systems related to women in Palestinian counter-proverbs. The study requires that it be organized into two sections: The first is theoretical and addresses the study's terms and their accessories, such as defining the implicit system and counter-proverbs and the relationship of cultural criticism to the system on the one hand, and its relationship to cultural studies on the other hand. It also addresses the issue of the unconscious and its role in the manifestation of cultural systems in popular proverbs, and finally the symbolic connotations in popular proverbs. The second section: The research deals with a group of Palestinian counter-proverbs that depict issues related to women, trying to explore the depths of the implicit system in them, to reveal the cultural sources of those images. The story may be particularly effective in establishing a concept, idea, or argument regarding the issues presented. Therefore, scenes of narrative intertextuality in the long poems of al-Nabhani adopt a sequential narrative style as if they were transferred from their prose source into poetic details. Consequently, it became necessary to establish a new type of intertextuality that is independent in its own right, termed "narrative intertextuality" while maintaining its connection to the other recognized fundamental types of intertextuality. Methods: To extract these systems, it is necessary to apply the mechanisms of cultural criticism in order to reveal the cultural and hidden in the collective unconscious; as the method represents a new trend that aims to reveal the implicit systems, ignoring literary aesthetics; its main concern is ideas and meanings; The true meaning of the text does not lie in the language, but rather is hidden behind it, and revealing it requires the text to be spoken to reveal it. Conclusions: The study concluded that women are present in the Palestinian popular proverb in most of its forms, especially the religious ones, and the features of that presence are predominantly negative and inferior, as they make them absolutely inferior to men.
