Evaluation of the effectiveness of internal communication department management in Saudi universities “A field study on King Khalid University"

Abstract
The present study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Internal Communication Department at King Khalid University (KKU). The study used the descriptive analytical approach. The questionnaire was adopted as a tool for the study. A random sample of (100) employees working at King Khalid University was selected during the second semester of the academic year 2019/2020. The most important conclusions of the study were that the level of internal communication methods at King Khalid University was with large degree and a relative weight (72.886%). Where electronic communication was the most important internal communication method with an average of (4.14) within a great degree; followed by the oral communication method with an average of (3.81) which is a great degree. In the end, the horizontal communication between the administrative levels was with an average of (3.399) and a medium degree, and there are obstacles of medium degree before internal communication department at King Khalid University with a relative weight of (66.372%). The biggest of these obstacles was the difficulties of communicating with the manager with an average of (3.68) and a great degree; followed by the lack of publication of the internal communication directory with an average of (3.52) and a great degree. Finally, all communication channels within the university came to exchange information with an average of (3.04) and a medium degree. There is a very great effectiveness by internal communication department at King Khalid University with a relative weight of (80.74%). In light of the conclusions of the present study, the two female researchers recommend the need to work to reduce the obstacles facing internal communication department at King Khalid University (KKU), to enhance the use of horizontal communication between the different administrative levels within the university, to overcome the difficulty of communicate with the director at King Khalid University and publish a guide to internal communication at King Khalid University.
