The Effectiveness of a Counseling Program Based on Psychodrama to Developing Social Skills for Students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Abstract
The study aimed to identify the effectiveness of a counseling program based on psychodrama to developing social skills for students with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Methods: The sample of the study consisted of (30) male and female students with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, who were chosen by the deliberate method from Irbid School. The study used the semi-experimental approach with the design of the experimental group and the control group, where the study sample was distributed to the experimental group consisting of (15) male and female students with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder who received the counseling program based on psychodrama to develop social skills for a period of time that lasted (8) weeks, at the rate of two sessions per week, the duration of each session was (60) minutes. As for the control group, it consisted of (15) male and female students with (ADHD). Results: The results showed the effectiveness of the psychodrama-based counseling program in developing the social skills of students with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. The most important recommendations were to adopt the method of Psychodrama in preparing and building counseling programs for students with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Conclusions: The study recommended several key suggestions, including increasing focus on counseling programs for the development of social skills for students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), adopting the psychodrama approach in designing and constructing counseling programs for students with ADHD, and extending the counseling program to schools and psychological and educational counseling centers to benefit from its results.
