Abstract
Objectives: The current study aimed to investigate the degree of including mathematical thinking skills in the developed mathematics book Ninth Basic Grade in Jordan. Methods: The researchers used the descriptive analytical approach and developed an instrument for analyzing content according to mathematical thinking skills which are: induction, expression by using symbols and forms, speculation and deduction, mathematical proof and logical thinking. The researcher analyzed the first and second semester of the developed mathematics Book for Ninth Basic Grade after ensuring the validity and reliability of the instrument. Results: The results of the study with regard to mathematical thinking skills showed that the skill of expressing symbols and forms ranked first to a high degree, and followed by the deduction skill to a high degree. Then, the third rank is logical thinking skills to a low degree. Next, the four rank is induction skill to a low degree, and followed by the skill of speculation in the fifth rank to a low degree. The sixth rank is the mathematical proof skill to a low degree. Conclusions: The study recommended to include mathematical thinking skills with lower degree in the developed mathematics book for the Ninth Basic Grade in Jordan.
