Abstract
Objectives: The study aimed to investigate the impact of using authentic assessment strategies on achievement and motivation towards learning mathematics among ninth-grade students in the city of Rahat in the Negev. Methods: The experimental method with a quasi-experimental design was adopted, by purposefully selecting a school in the city of Rahat, and then randomly selecting two classes within it, one representing the experimental group and the other representing the control group. An achievement test and a motivation scale were applied to both groups before and after the experiment. Results: The results showed that there are statistically significant differences between the means of the two study groups in the post-application of both the achievement test and the motivation scale in favor of the experimental group in both. Conclusions: The study concluded that there is a necessity to adopt and use authentic assessment strategies to include all school grades and other subjects to improve achievement and motivation among students due to its positive impact on both academic achievement and motivation towards learning.
