International Organizations and their Role in Literacy and Adult Education in Sudan

Abstract
This paper investigated the role played by international organizations in adult education and illiteracy eradication in Sudan as represented by the role played by UNESCO and its peer organizations working in this area. The paper pursued several aims; firstly, it aimed at identifying the concepts and meanings of adult education and illiteracy eradication. Secondly, it aimed at identifying the role played by United Nations Organizations in eradicating illiteracy.. Finally, the paper aimed at reaching some recommendations to make the highest benefit of these organizations in eradicating illiteracy as well as in adult education in Sudan. The researcher used the descriptive-analytic approach as a research methodology; this approach tries to explain the different aspects by surveying and describing the issue under research based on the significance of the available facts. The paper achieved several findings; the most important of these was, the role played UNESCO was most of the time restricted in providing the technical assistance only.
