The effectiveness of the practicum program at the college of arts and humanities at A’sharqiyah university from the point of views of student teachers

Abstract
This study aimed to know the degree of effectiveness of the practicum program at the College of Arts and Humanities at A'Sharqiyah University from the point of views of student teachers, and to reveal the differences in the degree of effectiveness of the program according to gender, specialization and the institution in which students studied their Bachelor degrees. A questionnaire was used for the data collection. Validity and reliability of the questionnaire were assured. The study sample consisted of 45 male and female student teachers in the spring of the academic year 2019/2020. The results indicated that the effectiveness of overall program was high as the average mean was 3.93. The highest estimate of the overall satisfaction category came, with a very high average, with an average of 4.44, and the rest average of the categories was from 4.09 to 3.52, which shows a high degree of effectiveness. The results also indicated that was difference between male and female students which is in favor of males, where as there is no difference attributable to the variables of specialization, and the institution from which the student teachers graduated. The study concluded with a set of recommendations, the most important of which is the necessity to pay attention to the executive procedures of the practicum program, and to ensure its accuracy and coverage of all aspects related to the implementation of it. It is also recommended that the practicum supervisor should have appropriate experience in the educational field.
