Abstract
This paper is an attempt to help researchers find ways to deal with the psychometric scales. Hence, the paper compares and contrasts between methods used to test scale items: face validity, item validity and the use of factorial validity. For the purpose of the study, the scale "attitude towards cheating" (ATC) is used on the study sample of 150 students from Teacher Qualification Diploma program at the University of Nizwa. The results show that face validity through inter-rating, item validity, and factorial validity have all improved. The results also proved that ten inter-raters are enough for face validity, divergence appears thus affecting the quality of the scale. Further, the study has found that 40 subjects from the pilot study is enough to test the psychometric characteristics, and that the factorial analysis could be essential for keeping scale items. The paper recommends the use of "item validity" along with the face validity.
