Abstract
The current study aimed to investigate the effect of using Wallace model on developing skillful thinking and geographical culture among students of the Department of Geography at the College of Basic Education/University of Mosul for the academic year 2019-2020. The research sample included (59) male and female students randomly distributed into two groups, the experimental group (28) students which were taught by Wallace model. The control group, (31) students, which were taught by the conventional method. The two research groups were equalized according to some variables. To measure skillful thinking, the researchers prepared a scale consisting of (20) items and it includes five areas: comparison, analysis, problem solving, reasoning and decision-making. Its face validity was found, and its reliability was calculated using the (Coder Richardson 20) equation, which was (0.80). The geographical culture scale consisted of (28) items. The reliability of the scale was calculated by applying the equation (Cronbach-Alpha) which was (0.79) by using the appropriate statistical treatments. The results showed that there are statistically significant differences between the development mean scores of the experimental and control groups in developing skillful thinking, and geographical culture in favor of the experimental group. Also, the results revealed that there are no significant differences between male students and female students in ST and GC in both groups.
