The Reality of Organizational Silence among Faculty Members at Qassim University and its Relationship to Some Variables

Abstract
The study aimed to identify the reality of organizational silence among faculty members at Qassim University from their point of view and its relationship to some variables. The descriptive approach was used, and the study sample consisted of (194) faculty members at Qassim University in the second semester of the year 1441-1442 AH. A questionnaire consisting of three dimensions was applied to them: organizational silence and it has three components: reasons for organizational silence, and proposals to reduce organizational silence. The most prominent results came to express that the organizational silence of the faculty members at Qassim University was achieved to a weak degree and a mean (2.52 out of 5), and it came in the first place after the socially supportive silence with a mean of 3.91, followed by the response silence with a mean of (2.74), then the defensive silence was achieved in a medium degree and got an average of (2.73). The dimensions of the causes leading to organizational silence came in a medium degree and an average of (3.13). The most important of which was the ambiguity and overlap of the role of the faculty member with other roles, and the focus of procedural proposals came to overcome the organizational silence among faculty members. Qassim University has a very high degree of approval and an average of (4,387). The study also found that there are no statistically significant differences in the degree to which faculty members at Qassim University practice organizational silence, its causes and proposals to overcome it due to the variables (type - degree - and years of experience). The study recommended more research proposals in the same field.
