Abstract
The study aimed to identify human rights included in social studies textbooks for the primary and secondary levels in Jordan. The study sample consisted of (26) textbooks, and the descriptive analytical method was used, based on the content analysis method. The study tool consisted of a content analysis card, and it consisted of eight areas: political and civil rights, educational and cultural rights, economic and social rights, the rights of vulnerable or disadvantaged groups and groups, peoples' rights, intellectual rights, dignity rights, and property rights. As for the paragraphs, it came (58) paragraphs. The results showed that the distribution of human rights fields included in social studies textbooks in Jordan came to varying degrees according to each grade. Sixth grade ranked first with a frequency of (660), and at a rate of (15.2%), and in the second rank came the seventh grade with a recurrence of (570) with a rate of (13.1%), while in the rank before the last, the second grade came with a recurrence of (39) and a rate of (0.89%), and the first grade came in the last rank with a recurrence of (26) and a rate of (75%). The total rights area for all books came to (239.97) pages from the total book area, which is (3,040) pages, and a rate of (7.87%), where the geography book for the sixth grade came in the first place with an area of (5.78%), then it was followed in the second place by the history book for the sixth class with a percentage of (5.64%). In the last rank, the National and Social Education Booklet for the first grade came with a rate of (62%). The results also indicated that the percentage of human rights space included in texts is greater than that included in images. The percentage of including rights in terms of frequency and area was almost equal for the academic subject. The study recommended the necessity of increasing the inclusion of human rights in social studies textbooks for all grades because of its great importance in providing students with these rights and duties necessary for them.
