Abstract
Objectives: The study aimed to identify the effect of using Marzano's model in achievement and developing an orientation towards learning in science among seventh-grade female students in Jordan. To achieve the purposes of the study. Methods: The study used the experimental approach. The subjects of the study consisted of (59) students who were distributed into two groups (experimental, the number of which was (30) students, who studied an educational unit in the subject of science according to Marzano's learning model, and a control group of (29) students studied the same unit in the subject of science according to the usual method). The educational material that includes the lessons of the earth unit from the seventh-grade science book for the first semester was prepared according to Marzano's learning dimensions model, which is composed of five basic dimensions, namely: (positive attitudes towards learning, knowledge acquisition and integration, knowledge deepening and refinement, meaningful use of knowledge and habits of mind produced. An achievement test in science was developed, consisting of (20) multiple-choice items, and a scale for measuring motivation towards learning science, consisting of (20) items, and their validity and reliability were verified. Results: The results showed that there was statistically significant difference between the mean scores of seventh grade female students on the achievement test and the scale of orientation towards learning science in science subject in favor of the experimental group, which is taught according to Marzano's learning model. Conclusions: In light of the study results, science teachers recommended using Marzano's Dimensions of Learning model in their teaching.
