The Relationship between Academic Freedom and Positive Thinking among Faculty Members in Palestinian Universities

Abstract
Objectives: The study aimed to explore the relationship between academic freedom and positive thinking among faculty members at Palestinian universities, as well as the differences in these variables based on the academic rank variable. Methods: The descriptive-analytical approach was used due to its relevance to the study's objectives. The study was conducted on a stratified random sample consisting of 420 faculty members from Palestinian universities, representing approximately 10% of the study population. Two scales were used for data collection: the first was an academic freedom scale with 12 items, and the second was a positive thinking scale with 11 items. Results: The study found that the level of academic freedom among faculty members in Palestinian universities was high, while the level of positive thinking was very high. Furthermore, a positive correlation was found between academic freedom and positive thinking among faculty members in Palestinian universities in the West Bank. Conclusions: In light of the results of the study, the researchers recommended enhancing academic freedom policies for all faculty members, regardless of academic rank. This can be achieved by organizing workshops and training programs aimed at raising awareness of the importance of academic freedom and its positive impact on positive thinking and academic creativity.
