Abstract
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the degree and the relationship between sportsmanship and athletic identity among volleyball players in Palestine. Methods: The descriptive-correlational approach was used due to its relevance to the study's objectives. The sample consisted of (114) players. Robert et al. (1997) sportsmanship scale and Brewer and Cornelius (2001) athletic identity were used for collecting data. Results: The results indicated high degree of sportsmanship and very high degree of athletic identity among volleyball players. The relationship between sportsmanship and athletic identity among soccer and volleyball players was high (R=0.73) and (R2=0.534). Conclusion: The study recommended several recommendations, the most important of which are: increasing the interest of trainers in including training exercises and training situations similar to the nature of performance in training programs which contribute to developing both sportsmanship and sports identity when preparing players psychologically, educationally and cognitively.
