Abstract
The present study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a training program based on the principles of the Son-Rise Program in reducing stereotypical behaviors and improving social interaction skills in children with autism spectrum disorder. The training program has been administered to two children with autism spectrum disorder, aged (9 and 10 years), enrolled in one of the specialized centers for day care in Al-Jouf region. The study used the semi-experimental approach (pre-post design). The resultes revealed that the training program has achieved a positive, effective in related to reducing the scores of stereotyped behaviors of the two children on the stereotyped behavior subscale. The scores of two children decreased from (16, 18) to (10, 12), and their scores on the scale of social interaction subscale from (19, 18) to (13,12). The program can be applied in day-care centers.
